Maris Ozols

Biography Maris was born in Liepaja, Latvia in 1984. He has been interested in physics, mathematics, and computer science for as long as he remembers himself. In 2002 Maris participated in the 33rd International Physics Olympiad. In 2006 he obtained bachelor's degree in Computer Science from University of Latvia. Presently he is studying mathematics at University of Waterloo. His supervisors are Andrew Childs and Debbie Leung. Since his early years at university Maris has been involved in various research projects on different topics such as magnetohydrodynamics, automata theory, and quantum computing. He was a summer intern at University of Waterloo in 2006 and worked with Laura Mancinska, Debbie Leung, and Andris Ambainis on quantum random access codes. Maris enjoys problems with a geometric flavour. He would prefer to live in a universe with four spatial dimensions. |
