Laura was born in Riga, Latvia in 1983. She received her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Latvia in 2006.

Laura particiated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program in 2006 and worked under Debbie Leung and Andris Ambainis on quantum random access codes. Currently she is a Masters student in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization in the University of Waterloo. Her advisor is Debbie Leung.
